THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO SOCIAL MEDIA MONITORING/CORPORATE REPUTATION MEASUREMENT FIRMS

http://www.stephendebruyn.com The Definitive Guide to Social Media Monitoring/Corporate Reputation Measurement Firms As the social web is gaining in size and relevance, it is becoming increasingly critical for corporations to monitor their presence online, and to extract insight from online conversations and comments. To an ever greater degree, corporate strategy and success are dependent on these insights, and corporate reputation is formed by a firm’s online presence.

It is therefore no surprise that a large number of providers have come forward in recent years to fill this need for insight. As this number is getting larger by the day, I figured it would be handy to bring all of them together in a list. The vendor list below aims to be as complete as possible (although I’m sure someone can come up with more). It features services such as Google Alert, Technorati and eWatch, vendors which exclusively focus on online/social media such as Radian6 and Scout Labs, as well as the traditional media monitoring services such as BurrellesLuce which have begun to offer online media monitoring services in addition to their monitoring of traditional print and broadcast media. I have tried to cast a global net, as the social web is truly a worldwide web, and providers of these solutions can be found anywhere on the globe.

If I have left off an important provider of these services, or if you have any questions or comments on the profile of a company, please let me know by submitting a comment.

Hello Stephen,

Thank you for including in this post. We just spoke recently with Nathan Gilliatt, author of the Net-Savvy Executive blog, who also studies various social media monitoring tools.

The key importance is that users wishing to monitor what is being said about their company, brand, and/or product(s) online will require different tools, depending on their own strategy and budget. We have, for example, one platform specifically designed for PR, communications, and marketing agencies, and another created specifically for the Hospitality industry (hotel professionals, hotel chains, etc).

It is great for the consumer, though, that since all of these tools are Internet-based it is easy to get in touch with each service and find out if it is right for you.

Thanks again Stephen.

Best,
Michelle
